He’s gone from what I heard. Auburn is officially a basketball school. Auburn is about to reach the depths of which only Tennessee fans know.

I’m not a huge fan of Mason so not upset to see him leave.. BUT a coach leaving Auburn for a lateral move to OKLAHOMA STATE is not a good look…

Oklahoma State is in a better position right now than Auburn. They were on the cusp of making the playoff. That's a step up for him considering Auburn sucked last season and Mason was blasted pretty much all season.

Auburn has well over 150 more all time wins than OSU and nobody would ever call that move a step up other than a Bama fan

Don’t know if this new guy will work r not for AU - he has coached here a year - Mason and Harsin differed in philosophy - this move May even work out better for Mason - buy that would never be an upgrade moving to a lesser school - semi lateral move at best

Harsin will hav 2-3 more years to show what he can do and losing Mason will not be very popular amount AU fans so he will put more heat on himself if he does not show improvement in 2 years

I don’t think Mason had any intention of staying at Auburn more than 1 year. He knows what goes on in the SEC and unless you are Alabama, Georgia, and sometimes LSU it’s a crap shoot, not whether you can win, but whether you can even field a competitive team.

I thought Mason did a pretty good job at AU as DC.....he put together a few good defensive games. Thing is the offense couldn't do enough to keep the defense off the field. Just my opinion....not saying he did a great job but he did pretty good with what he was given to work with. Again just my opinion.

Did Harsin let him go because he was looking for a new position or because Harsin wanted a change?

I want crazy about Harsin. He was a downgrade from Steele.

Harsin is putting his old buddy from Boise in there so Mason was just in the way.

Osu gets a DC that should help them,AU gets Harsin's pick for DC both are good moves. If Harsin's a downgrade from Steele whose a quality DC why's Steele never gotten a head coaching job?

He has and failed miserably at Baylor. 4 years, 9-36 with only one win in the Big 12 in those 4 years. While a great DC no one except Yella Fella wants to risk those results.

Some guys just aren't made to be a head coach. Bill Oliver was a great defensive coach, but he was not HC material.

Never cared for Mason's coaching job anyway, see Miss State game. Rumor had it that JS called the Bama game. Muschamp is another that's a good DC but not a head coach.

Mason did a good job with the talent he had and the amount of time he was responsible to call defensive plays, few bad games, few good games..first year... IMO this goes further than just bringing a buddy in. Seems like there is a snake in the woodpile somewhere. You know from firing a receivers coach early, and all the rumors continuing to surround his family etc....... Just seems like his new OC and now his DC are being brought in just because he can somewhat trust them??????? its weird to me.

Has anyone heard how much Masons deal is at OSU? Because the guy he is replacing was at 800 grand, not quite half what he was making at Auburn. I just wonder if he did a lateral move and took a pay cut to get out.
