Drive toward sterling and hug the South Platte River. Rios are all in the river drain. Knock on doors and you'll get lucky. I have done it a few times. What GMterry said. Have an old Army buddy in Sterling, went to visit him last year, turkeys everywhere. Nice little town to hang out in too!
