I've got a Model 111 that was NIB but probably sat in the previous owners' safe for about seven years. It's a 30-06 blued/synth with accutrigger/accustock. It shoots the plain old Winchester Super-X 150 grain Powerpoints sub-MOA. Yesterday I killed three small raccoons at 100 yards with three shots from it. I'm taking it and some 180 grain Normas to Namibia in a couple of months. I think I even like it better than my Tikkas in 260 and 308. Some say they're ugly but all I see is a very well made, reasonably priced, solid, durable, accurate hunting rifle that I love to shoot. And I've never been able to say that about anybody else's 30-06.

My new $550 savage killed the doe I shot just as dead as my buddy’s $1200 Tikka killed the doe he shot. Mines not as pretty as his but shoots just as good.

They are ugly but out of the box accuracy is VERY good. I’ve got several semi custom rifles I’ve built over the years on Savage Long Actions

Y'all start talking about Savages and Wes'll complain bout those ugly thangs. Loaded some plain ol' 180 Softpounts that grouped 3/4@100 consistent and the owners wife shot 125 Remington's into that same 3/4 inch. That's accurate.

Skinny is my EX.Alcohol was involved.

I had a 3006 model 111 years ago that had the heavier barrel profile and the open/close brake. I liked it.

I've got a couple built on Savage Long Actions simply because I can swap the barrels at the house. And they are all accurate and require little to zero action work. Outshoot a Tikka...., hell they'll out shoot about damn near everything out of the box.

I’ve always been a savage shooter. Never had anything but great performance out of all I own.

I've personally never seen one that wouldn't shoot. People complain about Savages being ugly because they are. I own a couple, all shoot great. One started life as a 243 and now has a Shilen 7'08 barrel bedded into a Boyds. Beauty of a Savage is if you don't like what you have you can make it what you want with a few tools and a little know how.

I’ve got a model 11 in .308. I’m rather fond of it. Hard to beat them for the money. I’ve always heard the “savages are ugly” stuff but not sure I get it. To me they’re “just a gun”. Not ugly, not pretty...just a tool. Is it the looks/design of the bolt/receiver or what?

They not only look cheap, they also feel cheap, and they are priced fairly cheap. My two most accurate rifles are both Savages.

Late to this party.

Life's too short to hunt with an ugly gun, even if it's accurate. laugh

Ive got them in .2-250, and older model 110 in .270 and .300WM. Looks never bothered me even with the DNZ scope mounts. All very accurate and dependable. All shoot Winchester PP ammo better than anything else. Dont know why Savage loves those rounds but they all do. The .300WM has a synthetic stock and I call it the Black Mule. Ive had it remove my hat for me a few times.
