Are you trying to justify buying another gun? I believe you got it. And theres nothing wrong with that. I need one more myself

Shoot, lm 6’, 245lbs and have a suppressed 7-08 youth model 700 for doe shooting. Got it because it fits perfect in the tractor cab. Sounds a little stronger than a 17HMR

It's a Ruger youth model.7mm-08 and it's absolutely a tack driver. I love the gun, and more importantly he's extremely comfortable shooting it. Nah, I don't ever need justification to buy any gun..lol. My thought to upgrading was purely to give him something larger than a youth model. Based on the above recs, I'll first see if another stock can be placed on it, otherwise a Ruger .243 may be for sale. Thanks for all the input though. It's appreciated. what model Ruger?

Wew3006, not sure of the model. I'll look this afternoon. I'm wanting to say Ruger American. It's got a black synthetic stock. I know it's a break action and drives tacks. If it's an Amarican, you used to ba able to buy a new stock for $99.00 off teh shop ruger site. I can't seem to find them now though

I'd look at a Savage Axis in 350 Legend. Way more knockdown power and still minimal recoil. You can pick one up for under $400 How do you figure the 350 legend has more knockdown than a 7-08? The hottest factory loads I saw online didn't even break 1850 Ft-lbs. Thats about what a 7-08 has at 200 yards.
