My GE refrigerator is 22 years old. Still going... My high end GE was only bout 8 years old. Had trouble from day one and a bunch of days after that. Have a friend had the same model with same problem, he replaced his bout 6 months before I did. When the two fellers from Lowes delivered the replacement they picked up the old GE. I asked them if they had anyone they really hated , give them that fridge. They got a laugh out of that, I was glad to see that piece of scrap iron leave.

Got a Maytag we bought when I built house 31 years ago, its about to go out now with the Maytag dishwasher but they been good. Trust me, Maytag has changed. We bought all new top of the line Maytag appliances when we bought our current house 4 years ago. Ice maker stopped working over a year ago, dishwasher has a mind of it's own when it comes to drying and/or finishing a cycle, and the above cooktop microwave can't decide if the door is open or not. None of the issues are covered by the 10 year warranty either. I'll never buy Maytag again.

Somewhere in the last couple of decades appliance companies realized it was way more profitable to make a product that wouldn't last so you'd be back in buying mode every several years.

Had a GE that crapped out after only seven years. Looked at Consumer Report's recommendations and Whirlpool Gold was at the top. We've had it for ten years without any issues.
