Anyone duck hunted the Crow Creek SOA? I don’t have a unit assignment yet (drew for January 8) and know it can depend on water, but wondering general thoughts from someone who has hunted it it.

It can be good (for Alabama) if the stars align. I heard it was dry last year. I drew for December 26 so I’ll be glad to share intel when the time comes.

It can be good hunting like jughead said. I’ll be there 12/11 this year.

Thanks guys. If it keeps raining nonstop there should be plenty of water!

I’ll be in unit 2 on Dec 18-19, and unit 1 Jan 15-16. I hunted unit 1 the first year they did the SOA but haven’t been back, looks like they’ve cleared a lot of lanes through those thick small trees and the old unit 2 and 3 combined into 1 new unit. Will definitely be there on the nov 13 scout day. If anyone wants to PM any info I’d appreciate it 😬. Looking forward to meeting whoever will be there on the 13th or hunt dates.

You boys with later hunt dates better pray for rain, and lots of it. Unit 2 is bone dry right now so I’d assume the rest of the place is just as bad.

I figured. Until they get a pump over there, that place won’t ever be much. Sorry about your hunt buddy.

There were some wood ducks loafing in the small creek that runs through unit 2 when I scouted last month. Did you hunt the ponds alongside the road? I’m guessing that’s the only huntable water right now. All the ducks from the refuge are still pinging back and forth to Bruce parks place on coon creek. Until we get enough rain to raise the river, flood the SOA, and some colder weather the SOA will be dead.

Hunt is scheduled for this coming weekend, I won’t be wasting my time though.

They dropped the river to winter pool, sucked the bottom out of it. The SOA will not get water until we get a bunch of rain. No use in tryin to hunt it until the last week or two of the season.

What a friggin JOKE that they dont have a way to put water on that so the folks fortunate enough to draw at least have a prayer. Having hunted other states, ours is like some kind of sick joke.
