In the world we live in, it's great to see a story of redemption and good-parenting for once.

We all have demons. I have a six year old son and it has changed my life for the good 😊. Nothing better than daddy can we go fishing. Dad can we ride the four Wheeler?

Great post . Sounds like you are not only raising a good son but he is raising a good father.

We have 5. All adopted through foster care. 2 sets of siblings. They gave the first set of siblings parents almost 2 years to get their act together and they weren’t willing to give up the drugs to get their kids back. The mother just couldn’t understand why she couldn’t sew her wild seeds then come back whenever she got ready. It really is sad. I couldn’t love them more but that definitely scars the kids. I can’t even imagine what all they saw and endured before they got to us. My son never saw his parents be anything except bible thumping, church going prudes. He has seen the effects of drugs on others in our family and how it has hurt their kids and even been passed on to them. I have never kept anything about our past from him. My wife dont really like to admit it, especially to let the kids know about it. I used to take Joseph with me to the bible study we ran , before covid. There would usually be 25-30 men there from a nearby rehab. I felt like it was important for him to see all sides of everything. He knows what the Lord did for us. He knows what would have happened if we had kept going the way we were. I cant make his decisions for him but i can dang sure give him all the information available to be able to make a good decision. The rest is up to him. When he was about 12yo i started letting him go off with some of the men i really trust to be good examples. I felt like if he spent some time alone with some real men, he might understand what men act like. That way when he gets to be 16yo and hes out with a bunch of boys acting like idiots, he would understand that is not what men act like. We can not make it for our kids but we can make sure they have the tools necessary to make it. Also important to know is that if many bad decisions are made and it ends you up in a mess, there is a way back. Its never too late while we are breathing.

Thanks for the transparency sir. It comforts most of us who have made necessary changes in our lives for the benefit of others, and the progress of His Kingdom. Iron sharpens iron

Proud of you brother ! We've shared our stories but for some that don't know here goes.. I fought my own demons in my younger years and the evil one almost won, but with a lot of prayer warriors he didn't. I still struggle time to time. But now I have 3 awesome granddaughters that we are raising that depend on us (we've had the oldest 2 for11 years on the youngest since she was born) because my stepdaughter who's 35 won't get her life together and their other grandparents seem to be to busy with their own lives. It's tough at times but we're the only ones that they can count on. And with God's grace we will do the best we can so they can be the best they can.
Free men aren't equal and equal men aren't free! I choose to defend my freedom!

Great job . Nothing like having a child to make you see what is truly important in life. Good job sticking with it too. Thanks. Now were getting somewhere
