Since we can't argue over the Beatles and Lynyrd Skynyrd any more. Who do ya'll think is the best musician of the past 10 years. In my opinion it has to be Sturgill Simpson. The guy has put out 7 albums (I think) the genre of his music ranges from country to southern rock, to psychedelic rock, to blue grass. He has also influenced a lot of artist.

It's also hard to argue against Chris Stapleton when you consider the amount of songs he has written for others, as well as himself. Like Sturgil, his body of work goes from country, to bluegrass (see performances with the Steel Drivers) and rock (see Jompson Brothers). Not to mention, ol' boy can play a mean guitar.

Sturgill is a good one. I'd put Billy Strings in the mix.
Sturgil is great. BS is quite the picker sand is getting some recognition for it. Good tunes by both. I’ll add Jason Isbell to the list.

i doubt that this guy's music/style will resonate with very many on here - but IMHO from a sheer talent standpoint, this guy is amazing & i look forward to seeing what all he does in his musical career

LOL my thoughts exactly ... Quincy Jones has picked this dude up, he's won a ton of Grammy's, etc. - here's a more "normal" video of him performing live (which is the litmus test for me on an artist's talent):

Chris Stapleton makes great music. I like his earlier stuff with the Steele drivers also. He also had a really good rock song that he did with Ed Sheran and Bruno Mars (which is a really weird trio) I would also say that Chris is more popular than anyone else mentioned. I think he also rose to fame because of a remake of a song (Tennessee Whiskey) which is fine He just has a lot of great original work and I think thats still his most popular song.I really enjoyed his last album.

Sturgil is a great musician. He just needs to keep his mouth shut between songs. He's costs himself a lot of money spouting off his political rants. I was a big Stapleton fan long before most folks ever heard of him. I'm still amazed the Jompson Brothers didn't hit big when he was with them. Not many people can sing rock, bluegrass and country the way he can.
