I saw this on Facebook. Looks a little off to me. Thoughts.

Bobcats must be extremely difficult to mount, because I sure see some unrealistic looking ones. Then again, I had one done 10 years ago and it took 2 years to get it back--it's honestly one of the best I've ever seen.

The face is off. The ears look too far back to me. Like the forehead is stretched.

Kinda looks a little anorexic too. I think this is a classic example of a crack cat. I'll bet its teeth are about rotted out of its head too.

There was a mount on here about 6 months ago that was absolutely awful. We talked about that for weeks. That was the worst I have ever laid eyes on.

The head dont match the cat, looks like two grafted animals. I got several cats and if one of mine looked like that I would take him to get wormed or put down.

At least now you can say you've seen one. As to the cat in question, the limb looks nice! wink

I got a pic of one David Davenport in jemison was workin on.He wasn't completely done, with it but it was a beautiful mount.I'll see if clarence will post it for me tomorrow. Its a cat on its back legs with a turkey flying off and his front legs are on the turkey like he's catching it.Very good, looking mount. Also the turkey was grey.He said it was killed in montevallo.I never seen one like it before but he said he had mounted a few grey turkeys before.

I don't want to bash someone else's work. I'll just say bobcats are very difficult. The eye sets on most forms are screwed up when the taxidermist gets them. It takes a lot of experience to learn how to alter and correct them. Most taxidermists probably never even consider altering the forms. If you find a taxidermist that can do a good bobcat, he can probably mount anything pretty well. Taxidermists are either detail focused or they're not. As goofy as that cat looks, I've seen A LOT worse!

Its all in the face. If thats not right the whole mount looks bad and thats the problem with the cat. However, the hump in the back does the body in on this cat. That should be a smooth upward curve to the back of the head and the ears should be pointed a little further up and forward.
I think a fox is harder to mount than a bobcat.

The cat in the second pic looks real good. Has a look on his face like he wants to kill something. The cat in the first pic looks like he wants to come hump your leg.

The way he is positioned on the limb with his paw propped up reminds of having your picture taken by a pro photographer. Put your hand here and other hand here, tilt your head to the left and back.

Nothing natural about it. smile

I've never mounted a bobcat but I imagine it would be a pretty painful experience.

The best one I ever saw was a bobcat and pheasant mount. It was a pedistal type deal with the cock pheasant coming up out of corn stalks with the bobcat jumping up for him. Saw another one like that with a drake woodduck and cattails. Both looked great. Sorry no pictures.
