You’ll actually hear both sayings about hornet nest height - but I always figured higher-colder was the most likely, cause cold air sinks. But I’ve heard it both way.

I don’t believe in either anyway.

2 years ago I was bush hogging and hugging close to the tree line. They got really bad. The only choice I had was to cut the tractor off and jump. I bet I could’ve beat a rabbit going through those briars lol. After 3 shots at the emergency room, I went back and got the tractor that night.

I’ve heard it both ways too ! Lady told me she had only been seeing solid black wooly worms . Foxfire books have all the old weather lore . That’s how they view the height of nests .

We found what appeared to be a wasp nest in an attic last week. Biggest one I'd ever seen. Normally we never see them bigger than a baseball. This one was at least as large as a toilet seat lid and we couldn't see all of it. Not sure if other insects build the same kind of nest, but I un-assed the attic quickly.

Character is not developed in moments of temptation and trial. That is when it is intended to be used.

One year early bow season I went in blind to a spot I had been wanting to hunt. I put the climber on the tree and eased up to hear a humming or buzzing. When it started cracking day I looked three feet to my left and there was a hornets next hanging next to me. I quickly un assed the situation and wast back to the truck by 7 that morning. A two hour drive and a 5 minute sit is what I got out of that hunt

I found one in my attic 2 days ago. About ten inches round. Packed with hornets. I sealed a rotten boot on a roof vent and guess they came in from there. I'm gonna just let them starve to death.
