Had anyone in here ever delt with moving an actual house? Like a 2,000 square foot home built in the early 1900s.

Yep. Jack Odom moved mine. Jack’s son Marty runs the business now. My house had to be moved in two pieces. It’s bout 2400 sf.

Thanks. I'm completely ignorant to this process, so what info would I need before calling and talking to a moving company? I assume house size, where it is, and where is going? I know they'll have to look, but it's there anything else to know before even calling?

Can it be moved in one piece? Will the roof have to come off? Fireplace? Bridges, power lines, etc. on moving route? Crawlspace height? This is just a few of the issues I dealt with when moving mine 25 years ago.

Call Kennedy in Huntsville They were involved in moving Cape Hatteras light house several years ago. Some engineers said it couldn't be done. If it can be moved they'll move it.

We have preliminarily considered elevating ours. But it’s on a slab and the cost will probably knock our ideas down.

Take lots of pictures of the process and put them on Aldeer.
Pretty wild to think an actual house can be transported.

Watched Kennedy move a 3200sf two story for my nephew. Never even cracked the sheetrock. Took them about 4 hours road time to move it two miles. Amazing.

Back in the 80's a company was moving the Plantation House in Aliceville down the road and it broke down at the intersection of Hwy 14 & 17. Thanks for the replies. It was something that hadn't crossed my mind until I saw a house for sale to be moved. I'm not getting a response from the owner, so I don't think it is going any farther.
