What about 2 people spilting a membership? One deer hunts, the other turkey hunts....And its up to them how the funds go...Still only one person hunting the land at a time....just a different person in the spring than the fall.... That's a heck of an idea pal! I've never heard of anybody doing that, but I don't see why that wouldn't work great!

It should be put up for a club vote although most clubs are not ran this way. Then if you cant live with the outcome find another club. All clubs are different on the members they have. Very few but some dont have any turkey hunters or only one & alot of good land. My club has a turkey only member & since I turkey hunt I dont particularly like it but it hasnt been an issue so I dont ripple the water. But if you think yall can find somebody willing to pay $1400.00 to hunt 45 days good luck. Heck, I didn't hunt 45 days combined between deer and turkey seasons. I personally think there ought to just be club members.

Why stop at two people? Some folks only small game hunt, so bring in a third person, or a fourth if you got somebody that likes to predator hunt in the offseason?

I personally think there ought to just be club members. I didnt mean 45 days of hunting. Most get to hunt 1 to two days a week witch normally would be 14 days max. Then factor in turkeys are only rite about 3 weeks on any given place & dont gobble half the season & it really cuts those days down.

If you let people split it up you would have some saying, I will pay 1200.00 to deer hunt if you just pay 200. for turkeys & wind up with 12 deer members & 10 turkey members & nobody be happy, includeing the land owner with 22 different people roaming there 1200 acres. Probably right. I'm hoping to just find me a tract or 2 to lease myself and sell deer only permits on it and keep the turkey rights for myself. That seems to be the best bet for keeping some good turkey land other than just being blessed with owning a good place or having someone give you permission.

Here's how I feel about it. If there are no turkey hunters in the club then selling turkey only memberships is ok. If you have turkey hunting members then it is absolutely unfair to them for a club to sell X amount of turkey only memberships. I was in a club a few years back and we had a club meeting. The president had a handfull of yahoos with him and said they were going to join for turkey only. I (and my dad) told them that we were no longer interested in being a part of the club and he said if that was the case he wouldn't sell them because we were "valued members". Fast forward to opening day of turkey season. I go in the woods at daylight, and kill a bird about 40 minutes after first light. I go over to the clubhouse and there are 10 - 15 trucks there. So I investigate and I find several yahoos running up and down the roads from greenfield to greenfield on 4 wheelers. One driving and one with a gun. They were trying to jump shoot them out of fields. It literally sounded like one of those ATV parks that people go to and ride. I was pissed to say the least.
It's absolutely not fair to the turkey hunter(s) to sell turkey only memberships. I bet it wouldn't fly if you showed up with 10 - 15 people wanting to buy deer only memberships.

No one mentioned that in a 108 day deer season the limit is 108 does Im pretty sure you can kill 216 does legally in a season.
Turkeys be damned.

No one mentioned that in a 108 day deer season the limit is 108 does and 3 bucks - if they average 100 lbs, that is 1110 lbs let me get this straight....... 108 deer x 100 pounds avg = 1110 pounds each? Where exactly did you get edumacated at?

Every situation is different, and what's fair in one club may not be in another. I have a turkey only membership in a club in TN. They have 12 regular members, but none are serious turkey hunters. Some of them hunt opening week, and that's it. There are 8 turkey memberships - me and 7 guys from ARK. None of us get to hunt a lot, but the club got the advantage of dues that equal 2 full memberships with no additional pressure on their deer. I'd say its a win-win for everybody. And if anybody has a turkey only membership available, don't contact Jughead or Yekrut; they are both trouble. Send the pm to me.
