I don't really reload for top notch accuracy (though I do have loads that shoot damn good in my rifles). I usually quit looking when I can consistently get 1" groups. I also don't reload to save money, though I do kinda save money. I spen a lot more on loading components and equipment than I ever would have just buying factory ammo. I do have a pile of components on hand that I've picked up here and there and could load for years if I stopped buying now.
I load to be as self sufficient as possible. So I don't have to depend on anyone else to keep me shooting/hunting/protected. That sounds like it could be the reason you want to start. You could always lay in a supply of factory loads as you can find them at a fair price, AND get a Lee loader, a few hundred primers and a pound of something like 4350 or 4831, just in case you can't buy what you need.
May the sound of hounds never die!
