Does anyone know of anyone that rents a mulching head and a skid steer? Southeastern is out of that business.

From what I understood in the limited calling I did a while back...the insurance minimums required are insane.
It was much better to simply call someone.

I've got someone lined up to bring a Tigercat with a mulching head to my property.

AU7MM08 is correct. I work in the rental business. Most places won’t carry them or are extremely selective on who they rent them too. WAAAYYYY to many people get hurt on them for many companies to rent them out. There are a few but not many. As stated above, you’ll probably come out ahead to hire it out.

A buddy of mine has one with a mulcher and let me use it this past weekend. Took me several hours to really figure it out, but once I did, it was awesome. Saved me and my son about a month worth of limb trimming.

If you could find a place that rents them, which I don't think you will, it would probably be cheaper to hire someone to do it.

This is what I've seen also. You could reasonably pay one of those brush clearing guys to do it cheaper than you can rent the tractor and buy the insurance.

It was cheaper for me to hire someone with one for the day than to rent one when you figure im loosing 8 hrs pay at work and time spent to go pu, run it, clean it, fuel it, and return it.
Pretty sure thompson quit carrying them and loader services was the last one renting them.

Cheaper to hire it out. They don’t rent those unless someone does a lot of business with them

Conquip doesn’t offer them anymore. Cat does @ $3900 per week. Some others offer them on a monthly basis. I have family in the dirt business so that helps. I have one lined up for about $2500 for the week including delivery and pick up. . It’s a big job and I have plenty of PTO so I’ll still get paid. I’m getting quotes from some guys but it looks like I’ll save enough by doing it myself to pay for a good portion of the dirt work I need done with a long drive way and two building pads to level up. I’m looking at close to 20k worth of dirt work and gravel.

Run it through some kudzu and you will understand why nobody rents them out. And yes, I did it, about like a vacuum cleaner stripping a fishing reel.

Fortunately there’s no kudzu to deal with.

Anybody renting these to the general public will NOT be doing it long. That is NOT a viable business model. It’d be about like renting dragsters or super fast boats to any Tom, Dick or Harry. Gloom, despair, and agony on me (and thee).

😂😂
So funny, yet so true. If you’ve ran a skid steer before and a bush hog, just get a brush cutter on an enclosed skid steer w tracks. If you have to have it mulched, hire the man.

ASW at the top of the page did a fine job for me. I could not find an easy way to rent.

If a skid steer with a rotary cutter would work, you can rent those cheap. My guy at equipmentshare in Bham is $550 for the weekend when I do it through my company account. Pickup Friday drop off by 8am Monday.

I was just at a job site the other day, and the grading contractor had a drum mulcher rented. Don’t remember what company it was from though.
