Seems a little steep at 1600 a day. Unless he works from 4 a.m to 11p.m. If you had just borrowed $100k for a machine to make a living with, $1600/day might sound more reasonable. I would imagine if you saw the amount of work you were getting for the $1600 you would be satisfied. It does sound high up front but all things considered, its probably pretty fair Looking at the guy's truck, trailer and machine, he probably needs $1600 a day just to make payments.
