I have it on "both" , left & right. The right side of the screen is always bright & the left side dim. There is no blockage of the transducer & the transducer is level with the transom. I feel like the problems is in the settings but I can't figure it out. Any ideas?

Are you always running the right side towards the bank? The deep side of the screen will always be dim compared to the shallow side.

I didnt take a pic of the image, wish i had. It didnt matter which side the bank was on, the left side of the si was always dim. Since this pic I have leveled the transducer with the transom but still have the same problem. The way the transom is made there is no blockage either direction.

I’m no expert and it is hard to tell in that pic, but the transducer needs to be mounted level, not parallel to the bottom of the boat.

You are right, I have leveled it since the pic. Its hard to believe the techs at the marina i bought the boat from mounted it on an angle that way.

Yeah, the description sounds like the the bright side is facing shallow water, the dark side is facing deep water. But the odds are that isn't the case?

No matter which side of the boat i put towards shallow, the left side is dim & the right 9bjects is bright. I may have a bad transducer.

It's most likely the head unit. I've encountered a whole bunch of the older 8 series with one side dim. They have great customer service and will fix it.

Check the transducer. Call Humminbird and they'll help you. They have good customer service. We had that problem in our fire boat. Turns out, it had the wrong transducer. Has it been that way since you got it?

A H'bird technician told me the warranty was only valid to original purchaser. I don't know if that's factual or not, but he was a H'bird phone tech help guy.

Yep. I called them on a Saturday at 3 in the afternoon from the lake. My transducer crapped out on a brand new helix. Tuesday I had a brand new upgraded transducer, no questions asked.

Sold me on HB.

Off topic, but...

Are your bolts to your lower unit backing out? I feel like I can see daylight between the lower unit and the mounting surface?

When you leveled your transducer, did you do it to what is level while the boat is in the water...not just level to the horizon.

Hope you get your image issue sorted!

Screws & bolts are tight 7x57. I leveled it with the transom on dry land. The level on the water constantly moves somewhat depending on whether I have one person or 2 in the boat, waves & such. I’ll give hummingbird a call Monday.

Can you post a screenshot of the SI image?

On mine, the lower unit of my O/B blocks a lot of the left screen.
