Decades ago I drove my Jeep way back in old ten road I think at Coosa WMA and man it was cold. Fell asleep in my climber and woke up after dark kinda out of it, but evidently I had gotten so cold I could barely get down the tree. Left my climber hanging and stumbled back to the jeep and my hands were so cold I couldn't get my keys out of my pocket. Finally did and couldn't get the key in the ignition my hands were so numb couldn't feel them. Finally did. I haven't heard anyone mention the Old Ten Road in many years. I killed several deer out of the hollow just before you turn right onto it from the Ridge Road.

The coldest temperature measured so far in Birmingham was -6 degF on January 21, 1985. At the time, I worked as a casting floor supervisor at McWane Pipe and had to be there at 5am every morning. The casting area was roofed but uninsulated so the casting machine water cylinders were frozen solid and we couldn't make pipe that day.

Me and 2 other guys went to skyline bow hunting in 1985, January and high of 10 and wind about 20mph, they said deer would come out right at dark but I found out real fast I didn't have enough cloths on, teeth shattering and it finally got dark and I tried to climb down from treestand and found I had no feeling in my feet, It,s hard to climb down and walk back to truck watching to see where your feet is, I made it back to truck and told them I think I had frostbite and need to go hospital, half way home my feet started getting feeling back and I still remember how that hurt 40 year later. I remember hunting one morning about 20 years ago when the low was about 8*. Back then I hunted from a climber only. Got there before sun up and could only sit there until about 8am. I had walked through a slough to get to the stand. My pant bottoms were wet and dripped water and my boots froze to the stand. I lowered my rifle down and had to step out of my boots and use my knife to pry and chip the ice away enough that I could get the boots off, all while about 30' up and no lifeline (cause I was young and stupid back then). As I have gotten older I wouldnt hunt in 8* again unless I was in a house with windows and a propane heater, and even then probably not.
I love my country, but don't trust my government.

Whose ready to move to Russia? Great stories in here. Fortunately I haven't had to succumb to much cold beyond feeling like your toes were gonna come off with your socks
There is 2 different high fence. 1 small and one big! Mine was free range in the big pen and was not a breeder buck. Why does it have to be twisted around??

Get some of High Level Alberta in winter. You can only work outside on a 15 minute shift. You know your in the wrong place when every parking lot has a plug in for a block heater.

I hunted one popular bottom and back then it was heavily hunted and I remember several times someone came in on me and we had deer come between us and we would both be looking them over for antlers at the same time. Man I don't hunt that way anymore. One time I had an owl fly past me right at dark and the next guy down shot, pretty sure he shot the damn owl! Crazy stuff. Also was bowhunting one time and it was squirrel season too and some guy near me shot a nice buck and it came limping past me. Pissed me off. Never could find it. The guy hauled ass when I yelled out a string of profanity at him.

First time I went pheasant hunting in Nebraska. Wind chill about -16 degrees. My eyes would water and instantly freeze to the point that sometimes my lids would stick together. So dang cold we didn’t care who shot, just fill the limit of 3 birds each. Probably coldest I’ve ever been.
