In 1998 if I had of had one more 7 Mag round I would have killed a 155-160. I had used my last round to kill an 8 point a few minutes before and I know it would have been against the law but at that age I wouldn’t have cared. I would have shot him and still remember watching him run a doe around in a food plot like it was yesterday

I've killed two over 140" one was in Covington and Clarke. I might need to go back and refresh my memory on how to score because some of these deer sure look like 140' deer that y'all are saying they in the 130's. I hope most of yall do know you get 4 mass measurements regardless of points. That can make the difference between high 130" and 140" deer. I have seen a many 8 points get shorted that 4th mass measurement over the years. Covington Cty 8 that I taped out over 140”. I’m not sharing the other deer.

I’ve seen some 5x5s get a couple extra ones too. 🤣

I thought I had killed a freaking giant until I was informed I only get 4 mass measurements regardless of points I had to go back and re-tape him for an accurate score. These was many moons ago and that's really when I learned to correctly measure a deer.

I had some history with the 8 I posted above. I passed him as a 130" 3 year old. Hardest thing I had to do in Alabama due the property he lived on. he lived on 100 tract of land and the neighbors knew about him. Word got back to me he would not get a pass at 4 so I killed him before he left his home to start chasing ladies. I wanted to see what that deer would become at 5 or 6 but knew the odds of him living that long were slim to none. I lost several good deer off that property due to poacher killing them at night in his back yard under a booger light. I had a fine 10 point that was young live through season to only show up on this dudes facebook page after season had closed.

Tuscaloosa County December 27, 2010 Hunting a.m. on gasline. He busted out on gasline, all bristled up, shortly after two rattling / grunting sessions. Shot with Remington Sendero .300 RUM at 378 yards. 203 lb. 10 point with a double white throat patch. Officially scored by Chris Cook at Alabama DCNR after drying for 60+ days. Gross B&C is 146-5/8". Net B&C is 144-1/8". Field PIC taken with an old Motorola flip phone camera. Taxidermist wall PIC the day of pick up. Won't ever forget that morning. That is my only 140's but I do have a couple in mid 130's that joins him on the wall. God has blessed me a few times in my deer hunting endeavors.
