Here’s a tip I learned with youngsters that you’re introducing to hunting from shooting houses. Especially those that haven’t learned to squat yet. A five gallon bucket with a lid , a contractor bag and some wipes. Tie up the bag and take the mess to the dumpster, leave the clean bucket in the corner of the blind. I started keeping a contractor bag and some wipes in my pack after I started going out west several years ago. Sticking a bucket in the blind before season saves a lot of trouble.

Been there done that. It was terrible, It was deer thirty early in the morning. After a quick cup of coffee and a honey bun, I headed out. Was 25’ up, deer walking up out of the bottom right towards me, couldn’t tell what they were yet at 100yds. It hit me quick but I held out a bit due to the deer moving towards me. The same amount of time I waited, equaled the lost time required to climb, shimmy and say oh my god like 100 times going down that tree. Deer were blowing everywhere slap

Shot my first deer that was big enough to mount while my coveralls were around my ankles after a morning stalk. He jumped the fence and was on me before I knew it, nose to the ground in mid trot coming right AT me. Fired from the hip as he was no more than 5 yards away. He crashed and died literally at my feet. My most memorable hunt to this day and that was 33 years ago. My relatives, still to this day, won’t let me live that one down. Always comes up with a few drinks around the campfire.
