Was a very good guy and great family man. Hate it for his family. I think he was a member on here also.

This is terrible! If that picture in the article is the actual tree, he had a safety line tied above the climber. It really makes you wonder what happened. Prayers to his family.

That is why I no longer climb. I am too old and shaky to do it. I don't even climb a ladder anymore. The ground is my only domain. I have been sitting on my tool box with camo netting on my truck, in cutover, at times. I have actually killed deer doing that. LOL

Makes me not want to climb anymore when I hear these stories, just can’t get used to not being up where I can see, and feel my scent may not be as strong.

A buddy of mine was telling me about this a couple hours after he was found. He hunted in a club with him in Fayette, but said he (the deceased) was hunting on some private land when this happened. I love to climb, but until I hear the whole story I'm going to be very wary of it for sure. At least the guys family knew where to look, which is another point to make for sure. We need to always make sure someone knows exactly where we are at, so if we are in some kind of similar unfortunate situation, someone with be able to find us. I always tell my wife or landowner what stand I plan on going to. If my buddy provides me with any more details I'll post them up. No doubt a sad situation, praying for the family. Stay safe friends!

The article is wrong.

This is my secretary’s brother in law.

He went hunting before work yesterday morning. His boss called his wife after he missed a meeting around lunch. She called my secretary’s husband and they ran to the woods to check on him. Found him hanging from his harness. Cut him down and tried to revive him while waiting on the paramedics. They are thinking it may have been a stroke or heart attack, or possibly he fell and could not get back in the stand. Apparently he was in reasonably good shape, and no health conditions. Sad thing, two college age kids and a wife left behind.
