Whatever you have ammo in hand for these days. Good ol’ thuddy thuddy does nicely

My two biggest decisions during deer season. What gun to take and where to hunt! I love having choices!!! Amen Sometimes I can't make up my mind and carry two guns. I do this all the time when I go for an all day hunt at a couple of my leases. Might want to hunt the pine thicket or change my mind and hunt the power line. Nice to have options.
What you do today, you have to sleep with tonight.

Got the itch for something new. 95% of my hunting is 100 yards or less. I would even say 50 yards or less is more accurate. What is your favorite short range caliber and ammo choice??? I built a 350 legend AR for my son its the perfect short range rifle

I just love a 308. Most of my deer are within 100 yards and it has served me very well. It is comforting knowing I can reach out if I need to also.

I don’t have 100 yard rifles, I just have rifles. They all kill great at a 100 but some still kill great way passed that.

I’m a big fan of lever guns for close cover hunting. My personal choice for when I’m unlikely to have a long shot is a Marlin 444 with a 1.5-4 Leupold.

444 Marlin with a 1.5-6x42 Schmidt Bender Klassic. It’s a thumper on both ends. 444 Marlin with a 1.5-6x42 Schmidt Bender Klassic. It’s a thumper on both ends. .444 marlin with a 2-7x32 vx2 with 300 grain hollow points running 1900ish work good for me.

.45-70 NEF handi-rifle; plastic stocks; after market soft butt pad; no-dak spud peep sight, NECG classic banded ramp with NECG partridge sight; about 6.25 pounds, but totes much lighter because of the balance. she will do.

I always have at least two, usually 3 or 4 guns in the truck during season. My post meant that I have occasionally carried two guns to a stand.
