No big cats in Alabama. Just Florida and South Georgia. They know better than to cross state lines. I had a young mountain lion that came from the Gardendale area, maybe 30 pounds.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

With the high hump in the back and dark lower legs it looks to be a bobcat.

Bobcat....walked around in the dark, in and out if the canyon and all over the management area for 30 years. No mountain lions. Grandparents owned the Canyon Land park before they sold it and it shut down. They DID release all the animals in the zoo portion by opening the enclosures. Interesting sounds at night in the canyon after that for awhile to here my dad and the other older local gents talk about it. Would have been late 60s into the 70s. I have a faint memory when I was small of my Nanny taking me there in her 1972 Lincoln Continental (I can still remember the smell of the interior). I have never seen one in person. But, I have seen the tracks and had guys with me who saw them too. Ft. McClellan late 80s, St. Clair Co late 90s.

Coon...possibly bobcat We got a bobcat that you'd think was a lion if it had a tail..I bet it'd go close to 50lb

I’ve seen pics from a guy here in Shelby County that has numerous pics of a mountain lion on his property. There is no doubt it’s a mountain lion in his pics as he has lots of them, with some being in broad daylight. He won’t go public with them because he is a business owner of a pretty well known business and doesn’t want the “there are no big cats in Alabama” to hurt his business or reputation. Now I’m not vouching for him that the pics were taken in Alabama but I dang sure know it’s a mountain lion in the pics he has.

Ears are pretty rounded though, tail isn't very bushy but raccoon is possible too. Im going with the elusive Bobcoon "Bobcoon" Love it! It's the new Aldeer word for 2021!
