With the high hump in the back and dark lower legs it looks to be a bobcat.

Bushy tail eliminates a mountain lion, looks like a coon to me.

Interesting sounds at night in the canyon after that for awhile to here my dad and the other older local gents talk about it. Would have been late 60s into the 70s.

I have a faint memory when I was small of my Nanny taking me there in her 1972 Lincoln Continental (I can still remember the smell of the interior).

I have never seen one in person. But, I have seen the tracks and had guys with me who saw them too. Ft. McClellan late 80s, St. Clair Co late 90s.

Yea after they sold the guy tried to develop it more and it didn't pan out. We still have random park stuff, posters, ticket books, etc. Used to be a concert stage in the bottom, had some big names in music back then went down in the canyon and performed.

I think coon as well, but I am very confident that large cats are scattered throughout Bama.

We got a bobcat that you'd think was a lion if it had a tail..I bet it'd go close to 50lb

I’ve seen pics from a guy here in Shelby County that has numerous pics of a mountain lion on his property. There is no doubt it’s a mountain lion in his pics as he has lots of them, with some being in broad daylight. He won’t go public with them because he is a business owner of a pretty well known business and doesn’t want the “there are no big cats in Alabama” to hurt his business or reputation. Now I’m not vouching for him that the pics were taken in Alabama but I dang sure know it’s a mountain lion in the pics he has.
