Just got diagnosed today. Started last Friday. Hunted Friday morning and got down from my stand and could barely make it out of the woods. If I stand up more than about 90 degrees I get a searing pain down my thigh from my hip to my knee and it will bring you to your knees.

Going to try and make an appointment with a back specialist in Montgomery in the morning. I’m trying to save my deer season but really want to be back before turkey season.

Anybody had a any experience?

Thanks.

I had the surgery 3 years ago. I’m not sure which disk. Be sure to take it easy getting back to normal. I did good til past august did something and had to get a steroid shot in the same location. I wear a brace when I know I’m doing a lot of lifting cutting wood, fencing.. good luck with it

You will know when you need surgery , it’s usually when you can’t crawl to the bathroom. My experience with chiropractors has been why so many states outlawed them.

Cold packs seem to help my lower back. Take it easy on stairs. I had a couple of stumbles.

Just my 2 cent a chiropractor will be pushing and pulling and put a little heat on it. If X-ray show herniated. He can’t get it back in where it belongs. Just my thoughts

Got the same problem with a couple of bulging disks thrown in for added discomfort. Physical therapy with dry-needling and some routine floor stretches have been the biggest help I’ve found. Been fighting it for about 8-9 years after a roll-over ATV accident and have tried about everything there is. The injections worked for the first few years then the durations between them got shorter and shorter. Not sure about your situation, but carrying a little extra weight around doesn’t help much either!

If you are having leg symptoms don’t let someone adjust your back until you have some type of imaging done on your back. Those leg symptoms are sciatic nerve related. At this point seeing a chiropractor, You could end up worse off than you are.

I had a herniated L5. Chiropractor kept me out of the operating room. I still get a flare up from time to time but one thing for sure, you don’t want to go the surgery route unless you just have to. Find you a good chiropractor and let him help you.

Ehh. Was going to one for 17 years. He had no problem taking my money. Recently, I told him what he was doing wasn't helping my current ailment. His response was he couldn't help it if my body couldn't hold his adjustment. Pissed, I quit going. And I'm pain free after one month.
Not knocking chiropractics, just stating my experience.

My best friend is a brain and spine guy. He once told me about the lower back fusions that what happens at the end of your first surgery is you just start the clock on when you'll need the second one.

Manage pain as long as you can. However, do it under the care of a good physician. Nerve damage is nothing to mess around with.

And listen to bustinbeards!

I'm sure there are good ones, but I've always been skeptical because the people I know that have become chiropractors certainly weren't members of Mensa.

I have L5S1 trouble. The chiropractor was a complete waste of time. Maybe he was just a bad one but i don’t recommend going that route. Best thing for me was exercise/stretching and getting injections when needed. Oh and common sense helps too.

My main problem was L5. When my chiro went MIA for a little while, l went to another. He had this table that just stretched my lower back muscles. Now that, was heaven.

I have a herniated L4 and L5. I’ve had it for years as well as degenerative disc disease. I will not go to a chiropractor. Nerve blocks and rest help mine. I’m not having surgery till I absolutely have to. I do have dry needling done when I can and it helps. Taking it easy and letting the inflammation go down helps more than anything. Pain pills will not help it. I’ve made mine worse several times because of norcos. I take ibuprofen now and just try to be careful.
