We leave for White County Illinois in the morning at 3:45. Should arrive in town around noon, grab a bite of lunch, unload at the lodge and head to a tree. This will be my first hunt in Illinois and I can't wait. I just hope I get some good video and pics, and a chance at a trophy. I heard they are haven't kicked into full rut yet but hopefully they will while we are up there next week.

I hunted in White County two years ago and had a great hunt. We got there on Nov. 4 and the rut was just about to break wide open. We saw several cruising bucks and out of three hunters, we killed two really nice bucks and three does.

Just got back Wednesday from a quick trip up to Johnson County and it was like the dead sea. Full moon, warm weather, crops standing, flooded areas and NO rutting activity made it a boring trip. My buddy did manage to kill a 130 incher, but I didn't see a single deer out of my stand in two mornings of hunting. I hope your trip is a little better than mine. Good luck.

BTW, we were hunting near Norris City when in White County a couple years ago. Where are you headed? CD.

Oops! Just noticed the time of your post. I guess you are already gone and should be nearing your destination by now. Hopefully you will have an exciting hunt and a good story when you get back.

Good luck.

I just got back from a 2 week hunt in Pope County. Like said above, they are a couple of week away from rutting. Fresh scrapes on hookings just started showing up last week. Next year I will go the second or third week of November.

Thats awesome. I am leaving weds. morning to go to Olney, Ill. Got a phone call from the lease partner of the farm and he killed 160 inch 11 point. He said they have just started to chase so hopefully I will be up there at the peak time.
Good luck.

I am sitting in the stand right now in Adams Co. 70 degree weather, the combine in the field picking corn, rut not quite there, tractors hauling corn in and out less than 100 yds away from me, but over all I am thankful to be here. I really do think the next three days are going to get pretty exciting though.

I leave in the morning for west central IL. Reports are that it has been real slow but will break wide open with the first front...which is tomorrow. Next few days should be the best all year! Sure can't wait!

I am at skillet fork outfitters in carmi. Weather is tuff. 70's high. Low in 50s. Seeing some big deer but out in middle of soybeans. Had a couple nice 10 points right under me but not 130. At home they would have been toast. Hoping for some colder weather on Wednesday

Weather has turned off hot the last few days. I nearly had a heat stroke coming out of the woods on Saturday. Ironically, we were seeing more deer move in the middle of the day than we did in the cooler morning and evening. The "little ones" are really seeking hard. It should explode here in a few days when the cooler temps hit. Crops still being in makes it tough. October was really wet up here and they are just now starting to pick. Keep after it. I saw two good bucks and posted trail cam pics of two on my lease. Best of luck. I'll be in the stand again Thur. Friday and then again Monday-Wednesday next week.

It's been tough hunting up here this year.

The crops are all coming out now. Finally! I went through about 4 counties today after I got out of my stand that I have 35 hrs in and no deer. The weather is staying around 60's -40's. It should get down right crazy for you guys coming up in the next couple of weeks.

Good luck muzzie!
