Late updating this post, but 3rd trip was successful too! Me and another buddy were the pack mules this time accompanying our 1 tag holder, my best bud who was the first too agree to my crazy plan to hunt elk in 2018. He shot this guy opening morning from the same spot I shot mine from, albeit a drainage much closer to camp (which was great!). That spot is pretty special to us now. Another brutal 3 day pack out ensued, but it was all worth it, again!
