What Fred said - it gives u more options - but I would use the 270 - more options Than a short range gun only if u ever need it
Hunt the wind - leave it better than you found it - love your neighbor as you love your self We need prayer for our country now more than ever

I don't believe in "short range guns". A scoped 30/06 will kill just as good at 50 yards as ANY so called brush gun and it will do something that won't do....hit a deer at 300 yards. Piss on handicapping yourself. Amen!

45-70 with 325 grain Hornady ammo is devastating at any range

Piss on handicapping yourself. When you can have other guns and KNOW you have places and hunts where you can’t shoot past a given range, piss on the extra recoil, blast, and weight of over-gunning, just because. If you’re one gunning, wanting as much extra as you can get, or might need to stretch from a given stand, go nuts. I think ‘versatility’ is a different topic than being specific about a woods only gun.;)

My vote 30-30 with a low power fixed. What my son uses. Love that gun

.44 Magnum Ruger Carbine. I also don't believe in short range guns, however I do believe in Treestand guns. That's one of the best I have ever used.
