I’m interested in starting to shoot a recurve but have no clue on where to start on what to buy! Any input would be appreciated! Eventually wana hunt with one I’m 6 ft 220lbs if tht matters and shot compounds for years

Weights listed on the bow will be for a 28” draw. If you draw is over that, the weight goes up and depending on the bow it can be up to 4 to 5# per inch. Start out with a low poundage bow, say about 40#.

Be careful not get one with too much draw weight. It is tempting to want to go 50-55 lbs thinking it's the same as drawing a compound. It's not. I have an older 50# Bear recurve and I wish it was 40-45 lbs.

I got a galaxy sage 45 #. Love it.plenty of choices at 3 rivers archery or landcaster archery

I have one thats 47@ 28" and wish it was 5 lbs less than that.

This is a good bow. Actually, with a good low stretch string it shoots better than a lot of high dollar bows Ive had.
As mentioned above, dont go too high in tje poundage.
I wouldnt start out over 40 lbs, depending on your draw length. You really need to find out what your draw length is first.

Samick was making good entry bows. I’ve had one for a ‘travel’ bow that I didn’t have to fret over, and it shoots well.....plus, you can order different weight limb sets for takedowns, to go up or down in weight as needed. Once you decide you like it and know what your sweet spot is, go nuts and get a nice rig however you want it.

I tell you...centaur archery is makin some nice bows. Theys bunches of nice bows for reasonable money...you could cheat on aldeer an slip on over to tradtalk an cruz their classifieds...maybe make a nice post introducin yourself an tellem what your lookin for...you could find a nice warf bow for reasonable. A warf bow is a old compound riser with modified limb pockets to accept a certain type limb or the newer ilf limb system..some are dang good shootin bows and are cheap..like..under $200 cheap..an shoot like a $1k bow.
