I know of two mid 2000's model Cub Cadets that are still working within my family and another that is probably 10 years old. None of them are treated nicely. I now own a CD due to experience with those 3. If it ain't broke don't fix it....

Personally, I wouldn’t trade my Ferris Commercial zero turn For any Exmark on the planet. The independent suspension ride on the Ferris will save your back. It will cut grass as fast as you want to go.

I run two Hustler Super Z 60". I've been very pleased with both. Prior I used Lesco Z2s(Cub Cadet rebranded and a few different parts) and got many years of dependable use from them. Still have one Z2 as the camp mower. It has over 5,000 hard use hours on it. All with Kawasaki motors.

You gonna get alot of differing answers...but to be honest..if you look under most good mowers all are either running hydro gear hydraulic motors or parkers. Those are both good hydraulic drives..most are gonna have a kawaski or kholer option..some now offering yamaha and honda...go carbed in my oppinion..efi engines have more to go wrong an cost more to work on. Some brands offer better rides..some have fancier seats..some have better engineered decks...6 of 1..half dozen of the other...steel is steel...what you power it with matters more. I like kawasaki...but we have had excellent luck with our kholers too. Im not tellin you to get one...but...we have 12(i think) toro z masters 60in decks..bout half have kohlers..half have kawaskis...we rotate new ones in an out ....our oldest mowers are somewhere around 3k-4k hours...with no major issues..kawasaki or kohler...we have replaced 1 set of hydrogear hydro motors after about 2k hours...the parkers..which are known to be higher quality...are still going strong. All the engines and hydro motors available on these mowers are also put on: SCAG,FERRIS,EXMARK,JOHN DEERE,SPARTAN,HUSQUVARNA...ETC. They dont just have espicially unique stuff..pretty much same high quality suff is available across the board...some have better spindles and spindle designs along with beefier decks. In my firmest oppinion..and i mow about 5 acres...dont buy a low end zero turn of any kind...i have a husqvarna an its deck has cost me more money nearly than i paid for it second hand. If i bought a new one today..id buy a hustler, spartan, cub cadet pro z 500 series, toro titan..all 60in fabbed deck..all powered by kawasaki or kohler(kawi prefered)..all parker hydro if possible...ALL STEEL SPINDLE ASSEMBLY!!!!!!!!!! HAVE A GREAT DAY😁

I’ll add that he is likely talking about Kawi and Kohler commercial motors; Both manufacturers have low end motor offerings as well and those are not gonna be as strong/reliable. I have a Vanguard commercial motor that is good as well. I would have preferred a Kawasaki but the deal I found on the Ferris was too good to pass up. For my property with some brutal holes (I’m slowly getting them filled) the Ferris is2100z beats all others I’ve tested. My JD z930R inflicts pain while mowing but cuts better and faster than the Ferris.

But I don't think you'll find a ZTR that cuts good and rides good. I think it's a law or something, nobody makes one that can do both.

I originally tried a Scag. It is a very good zero turn but it will beat you to death. I called the dealer I bought it from and went with the Ferris. Luckily he sold both brands. I went with the 37 hp Vanguard efi. Reviews on the Vanguard were very good while the reviews on the newer Kawasaki engines were questionable. There is a 3 year warranty on the Vanguard.
