If you climb a red oak its gonna slip some but you learn to anticipate it. One year before the season came in I was checking my stands, hung it on a tree and put all my weight (220#) on the end of the bottom piece and the crimp on the cable broke...never climbed in another one. Bought a couple summit Goliath stands and haven't looked back. Great stand. Very safe and comfortable enough to sit all day in.
