I would still like an answer to this serious question - where is the statutory authority for the DCNR to confiscate/a judge to order confiscation of a deer not checked in with game check?
We know the nuclear plant buck was probably poached but that wasn't the charge.

What do they confiscate if you don't game check a doe? The hooves?

What gets me is there were some guys on here posting with all the inside info daily. They were just smoke out their ass. They basically convicted the guy in the social media court room. I wonder what they and their sources have to say now. Probably nothing has changed with what they have to say. It seemed like the guy illegally shot the deer. Still does. Plus he’s been in trouble for trespassing and poaching before.

Only $50 and court costs for failing to check a deer? What a joke. As usual, no teeth to the penalty. ADEM must've set the fines. Need a cite to the full reg. Does it actually purport to authorize such an extreme penalty? Sounds like the judge openly admits to doing it for those who don’t do gamecheck. Judges and game enforcement have a lot of leeway in seizing your stuff. A chance to get it back is going to cost $$$ From the story: Kellenberger eventually charged Anderson with failure to report the buck on Game Check. Jackson County District Court records show that on Aug. 12, Earl Ray Anderson pled guilty to failure to report. He paid the maximum fine of $50, plus $50 in court costs. Judge Don Word ordered the rack confiscated. It is now in possession of WFF. “Because the fines and court costs are so low, Judge Don Word is declaring the racks of people who fail to report contraband because there is no confirmation number,” Kellenberger said. “He does that on all cases, not just Mr. Anderson’s.” Big question was why kill a sure enough trophy buck and ruin your mount? Don't think he could produce rest of deer either. Not everyone mounts their bucks. Their deer, their choice, their money. I've got a couple high 120's at the house that I just cut the heads off of and I've seen a alot bigger deer skull mounted if I killed a 200 inch deer next week I still wouldn't mount him
We will burn that bridge when we get there
