I'll say Sugarlands has Ol' Smokey beat by a bunch. I have had some of the best and some of the worst illegal and the good illegal was fine. I know a guy that makes peach brandy that is very good. But there are several of the Sugarlands that the GF likes and we bought in GB a couple weeks ago. Save the illegal for the men. Give the better looking sex all the legal shine they want works for me!

The reason to make your own is because it sucks less than store bought. In Florida they get on you too hard for minor made at home stuff.

It was little sweet, so a couple of shots is good enough for me for an evening. It was really good ice cold, and i'm gonna grab a bottle and stick in the freezer at camp for winter. Oh yeah, someone did tell me that the Skrewball peanut butter whiskey is better, but haven't tried it yet.

The home stills work very well, but the first few ounces can blind you due to methanol having a slightly lower boiling point than ethanol. Methanol WILL BLIND YOU. You better be watching your mash temps and know how much to pour off the first bit. Plus, as mentioned before, a felony. Any truck, still, shack, anything that helped you produce or store or transport it will be subject to confiscation.

The reason the store bought stuff doesn't taste right is because of the lower proof. The 100+ proof stuff will actually start to taste like the real thing.

Just can't beat the real thing.

Break it up into 10 parts. Throw out the first and last. The last won't kill you, it just sucks. The first will.

I met Tim from Moonshiners a few years ago at a promo. I bought two bottles of his Climax. It's as close as I could find to the real stuff. The one that has that has the quick aged oak taste wasn't that good. The clear stuff was better.

Someone I know says his comes off near 140 but he cuts it to aroundr 100 for good sipping. The first hit you feel it but by the 3rd it seems pretty smooth.

Each time it's distilled it increases the strength. Should be three runs minimum for quality. First run is called the stripping run as it gets rid of most of the yuck, final run is called finishing.

Should be 160-180 proof on the last run if done correctly. Then you cut it with water to what you want. Do not drink booze over 120 proof - very bad for you.

5 equal parts? Surely you aren't saying throw away 40% of the whiskey.

Yep and I know mine sorta i could drink a 1/5 and act right...but u know the story and it took that to make me realize I was slowly destroying my relationships with family over last few years...I made a promise to daughter to never pick up a drink again....im not judging anyone here tho...I put it in God's hand just pray it'll work out one day
