What is also interesting is that many do not match the plant requirements to the fertilizer they are using.

Has anyone heard of using 34-0-0 for cereal grains bc they dont need much phos or potash since we arent trying to produce maturity ?

Yes, or just urea. I've added it to get that extra boost of vegetative growth to get it up.

That's the same thing I've been doing for the past several years as well. Something else to consider is that fert requirements aren't the same for all cereal grains. I usually use cereal rye which will grow well without applying nearly as much N as wheat will require.....Cereal rye is actually considered to be an N scavenger.

no reason to buy 13 13 13 if there is 17 17 17 available, no reason to buy 17 17 17 if you can get 19 19 19.

I use a mixture of triple 13 and nitrogen 24-0-0 and works well for me.

Only reason to use 17 over 19 is if the 17 has some sulfur in it. The way 19 is formulated it can’t have any sulfur. 17 can be made with or without. Need to look at the tag. You really need some sulfur.
