Well gosh! Let's run out and be like Georgia and Florida, by all means!
My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

Maybe im naive but I really dont see the big issue. Its 2 extra lines on the sheet you already fill out at the processor / Taxidermist. Game warden can check to make sure numbers match up. So long as they are not holding the processors liable for false information im not sure where their job gets changed at all. God forbid we do anything to record legal harvesting of a deer in this state.

IF...IF...I even kill another deer, due to these regulations and trying to make the processors police everyone, I’ll just cut out back straps and make hams/roasts out of the rest. I have no desire to have things ground into this or that and I won’t fool with the political crap.

Something being preached and mandated "that will help hunters!" is harming legitimate businesses and making hunters so pissed of that they're changing the way they do things.

God forbid we do anything to record legal harvesting of a deer in this state.
This isn't about "recording the legal 'harvesting' of a deer in this state." It's about forcing private businesses to do the work of and serve as agents of a state agency. It's about hunters in the last 15 years being micromanaged, told what to do with minimal if any explanation other than "just do it, we know best" follwed by pissy public statements about why no one's following the rules. It's about added fees and regulations from supposedly conservative politicians and appointees taking the tack of liberal progressives. Taken strictly on its face, this "possession-transfer" regulation means that if you give your grandmother a hindquarter, you have to give her the information the department mandates. No one can or should say "Oh, but that's different an you know know it" because it's not. If I have to fill out bulldoodoo transfer confirmation crap to get a processor to cut up a nanny, you have to do the same stuff to give your deer to Granny. Some of y'all who continue to say "Oh, it's just $15 so you should pay it or quit hunting" or "Just fill out the form, it's not a big deal or an imposition" are going to rue the day in the future when you wake up and realize the amount of crap you have to do to hunt a deer on your own land. When the "No one needs more than one buck!" adherents finally get their way, you'll be pissed about 10 years later when you're still seeing the same spindly 8-pointers, just like how we're not seeing more mature "giants!" 15 years after the 3-buck limit was rammed through to appease a small, vocal group, But that''s fine. Continue down the path of rolling over when more regulations, fees and laws are imposed.

So, here's my slightly knowledgeable long 2 cents worth... The problem with it is a couple things. 1) Being an anti-establishment Libertarian myself, it is most certainly moving into stronger government overreach. 2) There is not always cell service and many of my customers at Shana's Place do not even have a smart phone, and the ap crashes every cold January weekend night. ADCNR says their fix for this is to a)go to a kiosk, or b) call the office and get the game check number {of which I asked if they would have phone clerks available on sunday nights, christmas eve, or even the lovely paid state holidays. lol} and 3) It is not the processor's responsibility to enforce their regulations in order to protect ourselves. This will cause for longER lines on a busy nights, leading to deer being dumped in the local ditches and never truly giving the DCNR what they are after. I get that they need more accurate numbers! I believe it is because the old school 'ethical local hunters' are outnumbered. There are big money, big city folks killing all they see, never taking into consideration management, and then they donate the meat but keep the cape and antlers... there's the root of the problem! A better thought out way to handle this would be to a)give the processor the same 48 hours to get the numbers from the hunter so that they can at least take the carcass and get it in the cooler! or b)GIVE tags with every hunting license purchase, if you need more tags go to a kiosk. Chuck says that would be too expensive, though. I tried to post about this here over a month ago, it was denied. I was searching for anyone that could go to the board of directors meeting in Mobile and voice our opinions to get this changed. If folks just sit at home and complain, they must accept what they are given. A processor that is quitting is taking a stand against it in their own way. I am taking a stand against it in my own way. GA put this BS out real quick, but will enough Alabamians take a stand?

This year will be a test run. Next year every processor will have to buy a "license" to become an officer of the state and face severe penalties for noncompliance.
My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.
