Its Getting to where a man cant feed his Family anymore.... I dont know your situation and I'm not in favor of regulations, but deer meat hasn't been the cheapest way to feed your family for a while. Damn right. I can buy a lot of beef (and groceries) for what i spend chasing pine goats lol
Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many!

I see no need to check a deer at the kill sight, that is why their is the 48 hour time period. Kill the deer, drop off at processor, record kill next day while on stand. I always have check number emailed. Don't look at number till back at work in the office, which could be up to a week later. Don't plan on changing those ways, don't see a need to change them(well within the requirements), Wardens will have to get over it. The number is dated and recorded in the system, should be up to the game officer to look that up if they feel a need to, not the processor. They are simply using the processor/taxidermist, and penalizing them, to do the officers own d*^% job. Processor/taxidermist can have a small printer or camera to take a photo/copy of hunting license. Wardens can use this to look up the game check number and date from there, processor doesn't have to deal with it.

There never will be physical check stations. Those days are over thanks to phones and technology.
Tags are an easy fix: make your own, add the required data, affix it to the deer.
But but we got to stop those illegal hunters Oh forgot ,,,,,, and other state's have it Which other states still have check stations for whitetails?

Process your own, problem solved! Save money too! Some of us have neither the place or the desire to do that. I could build a clean room and buy the necessary equipment but I don't want to. I am all too happy to pay someone to do that task for me. I just have a major problem with this "guilty until proven innocent" attitude that seems to be the popular fad with government agencies today.

And by the way, I keep my GPS turned off and report my GC after I return home. I don't mind telling them what county I was in, but I ain't giving more specific details.

So you plan to go home, get your Game Check number, and then go to your processor and drop off your deer? Since you have to have the Game Check number before the processor can accept the deer.

I don't see a big problem with it. I don't think it's an effective rule but the 30 seconds it takes to do it is not going to ruin my passion for deer hunting. I've already given up sports this year, I'm not giving up hunting deer

Outback just rough talks the meat off the bone. No need for a processor.

What if you hit a deer with the car going down the road? Can you not drop it off at the processor? ILLEGAL!!1 (a) It shall be unlawful to concentrate, drive, rally, molest or to hunt, take, capture or kill or attempt to hunt, take, capture or kill any bird or animal from or by the aid of: (1) Any automobile, motorcar, airplane, train, motorboat, sailboat or any type mechanically propelled device, or any other device being operated in conjunction with any of the above mentioned devices of transportation. Provided, however, that nothing in this regulation shall prevent hunting from a floating craft (except a sinkbox), including those propelled by motor, sail and wind, or both, when the motor of such craft has been completely shut off and/or the sails furled, as the case may be, its progress therefrom has ceased, and it is drifting, beached, moored, resting at anchor, or it is being propelled by paddle, oars or pole, and provided further that nothing in this regulation shall prevent the taking of game birds and game animals from any stationary motor vehicle or stationary motor driven land conveyance provided any forward motion is ceased and engine is shut off. Nothing in this regulation allows the hunting, taking or killing or attempting to hunt, take or kill any bird or animal from any vehicle on a public road

Deer hunting quit being fun when it became all about killing mature bucks that score such and such. That is ultimately what is driving game check and all this other bull crap. People think if other hunters just did their part they could kill 200â deer every year.
I say lets go back to running dogs, brown is down, and everybody has a good time. When we were running dogs, it wasnât brown is down. He had to have horns. Does weâre not allowed. You had to glance at the top of their head on a running deer or tell everyone you missed when you killed a doe.
