I’ve had a brand new gooseneck trailer being built now for several months. Today finally I get it delivered and WTF is that is about what I said. This by far is the worst welding and paint job on a trailer I’ve ever seen and I’ve owned a many trailers. If someone will put their name on it they are stupid and blind. By the time I looked over everything the company was already closed so a phone call didn’t happen but by god come Monday or Tuesday morning someone is gonna get an ear full from me and either they can fix the trailer or give me my money back. I normally try to let stuff go and move on but today I pulled a little over 10k out of my pocket and even my wife said geeze this looks terrible. I’m fuming over this now and trying to help a local business I sure wish I would’ve ordered one from a real company.

I hate that. How about letting us know the name on the trailer?

If they built it that bad don't waste your time on monday...

I'm not defending whoever made the trailer, AT ALL, so please don't think so....

I've looked at building trailers. Trailers are very easy to build. Nothing to it. Here's why I don't. There's so many people building them, so cheaply, that there is very little margin in them. Even if I bought steel by the semi load, there wouldn't be enough money in them for me to take that plunge. So, they probably pay their employees like crap, so they get crap. We deal with quality issues with every company we are dealers for.

I used to weld and I’ve been a welder for 15 years or so and I know what a good weld is. When paint won’t cover the pin holes and you can see the line where the weld is stuck to one side of the metal but not penetrated and damn near all the welds on the trailer are not tied in. We have a problem. Hell I guess they ran out of grinding rocks to because my little boy cut his hand on some of the jagged edge they left after cutting something with a torch

That part where you pulled 10k out of your pocket is where you messed up. Should have kept your money in your pocket.

I don't remember the name of the trailer manufacturer but if I did I'd post it, but anyway. We don't work on my small trailers, but occasionally do work on a few goosenecks. A guy brought one a month or so ago that was so new it didn't hardly have a scratch on it. It had broken welds all over it. It took us 4 hours to go over and re-weld things. I think I know the name, but I don't want to post it because I'm not positive and I don't want to smear the wrong company.

It's entirely possible that their entire workforce has changed 3 times over since then. I'm not knocking welders, I consider myself to be one, but most places that do production fab work, especially on low margin items like gooseneck or smaller trailers, and other things like that pay so low that the majority of their welders are guys who are spun out.

Yeah. Saying "im not paying for that, thats not what I ordered", would have helped his situation. If he paid for the trailer, its his trailer. If it were me and I was as unhappy with it as he is, theres no way I would have paid them. I would have told them to take it back with them and have the bossman call me.

[/quote]Well that’s why I decided to use them because of the trailers I looked at were quality built. Apparently they are struggling to find help there because I ordered the trailer the first of June and it was supposed to be ready the first of August then it was we will have it next week then next week then it was it will be the first of September before we can get your trailer to you. I reckon they only have a couple folks working for them. Years ago I used to build trailers for a company here close to where I live and I would have been ran off if I left stuff they way this one is. A lot of the paint is just over spray there’s still bare metal showing in some places, instead of welding a piece of pipe to the axles to run the wires to for the brakes the just taped the wires to the axle, and most of the weld need to be cut out and re done.

Jeez! Apparently they’ve changed a lot. I know they used to stand behind their product and hopefully they will this time for you

I hate that for you man. I get a feeling they’ll make this right for you one way or the other. Can’t blame you for being mad. Seems like good workmanship is something rare to find now.

I'd get my money back and do business elsewhere. If you're actually seeing that many bad welds, the ones that aren't seen wouldn't let me sleep. Burn me once........
