I have fished the Warrior River since the 1980's. Never caught or seen a common carp. Used to love carp fishing in PA. Any places holding a lot of common carp reasonably near Tuscaloosa ??

In the Allegheny Rive in Pa as a kid we used rigs similar to catfish but used fresh corn as bait. 10 and 15 pounders were not uncommon.

And why do you fish for carp? Just for the fight?

They're definitely fun to catch. Also for bowfishing, too.

One of my grandmothers used to make dough balls and catch them out of our pond. Cook them in a pressure cooker. Make patties out of them like salmon. Bones and all. Yuck

I’ve had smoked carp and smoked buffalo. Both were amazing. We catch them on fly rods at smith lake and that is a lot of fun. We bait up a cove with niblet corn and white rice the day before. Then we use a single piece of corn on the hook. Lots of fun.

Lake Tuscaloosa doesn't have a ton but it has some monster commons and grass carp. I shot a common carp up there that was 34lbs and several grass carp in the 50 lb range

We will burn that bridge when we get there

Carp on a fly rod is a ton of fun. I tried it out after bhamFred talked about it.
