From the time I created my bill of materials to ordering the materials (6 months ) to build my shop prices went up 20%.

Nope, none. Last landowner I helped in June was fairly pleased with his stumpage prices. Still no early 2000s prices by a long shot.

95% of my lumber for builds comes out of South Alabama. Noticed the jump today down here locally on a very small buy so I called my package supplier in south Bama and he gave me the good news. LOL

I need to resurface my deck. Since I calculated what I needed maybe 6-8 weeks ago, treated decking has gone up 50%. I think ill wait a while. I've got some timber I need to cut but the stumpage prices were too low so I put it off. I bet they don't go up even though lumber prices are through the roof

Mills steadily dropping the prices but the prices steadily going up at the lumber yard. It’s stupid and sucks for us timber folks.

I have no idea who’s gonna cut it but they may be poor mouthing a bit. Hardwood timber prices are about to go up in a big way as long as there’s not another catastrophe to kill it. If Trump gets re elected hang on. If you ain’t just gotta cut it right now wait til October or so.

Noticed the price increases and empty shelves a few weeks ago when I was looking at replacing a dock. Not gonna happen soon.

I work in a mill that makes LVL and we are working 60 hrs/week to keep up with the demand. Our intermediate and finished goods inventory is way low
in our warehouse.

So what's the main cause of shortage or increased prices for an uneducated person like myself. I've been in the process of pricing out material for a house build and was honestly shocked a little at this first lumber price I was quoted, didnt know if it was just the particular supplier I priced at.

I'm in no agreement to build at any certain time. If prices are increasing like said, when do the professionals expect it to go back down? I'll put my house build on hold if I can save money by waiting out till next yr sometime.

After a quick interweb search. I see several articles blaming it on do it yourselfers doing these projects during this China virus isolation while stuck at home. Did alot of the mills shut down during the China virus or get that far behind? Stop cutting certain wood to allow for the TP stockpile madness?

Any certain woods expected to be higher than others or be affected worst?

North Bama is population is exploading. 1,000's of homes being built every month and no end in sight. Only thing that will slow it is a very terrifying sleepy Joe

Trump money and a lot of free time. Folks went to building decks etc.

I added on to my deck and glad I started when I did. Coat a third more but was very hard finding lumber. Local Lowe’s kept running out.

Said they’d never seen such.

Gardening and especially tomato cages were in high demand.

A guy I know his business was swamped and looking at doing 3 to 4 times last years sales.

One industry that never slowed down was home building. In fact, it has picked up this year.

I'm hoping rates are that low or maybe even lower in April 2021, I'm at 4% on the condo.
Would love to get sub 3%.
