Just wondering ... all you guys saying it is illegal what are you basing your belief on? 13A-11-9 state of Alabama law says its illegal to wear a face mask in public places. The governor has no authority to change a law, or order anyone to break the law. There is also a similar law on the books on the federal side.

Actually Southern Research Institute in Birmingham has a paper they published about the effectiveness of masks. An N95 is about 90% effective, a surgical mask is about 33%, a bandana is around 11, and a dust mask is 6. Of note, the paper went on to conclude the use of masks gives people a false sense of security.
I actually had a guy tell me he wears a mask for my protection. He didn't like it when I informed him my protection was my responsibility, not his!!
That paper was published in 2010 and is hardly relevant to the argument here. They sprayed aerosols directly onto the mask to see what collected on the mannequin. The argument for masks is for everyone to wear them so they will collect and significantly reduce the spread of aerosols from an infected person. People could be asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic spreading the virus. Why not play it safe and nip this in the bud? We are the only advanced country in the world still significantly struggling with this virus. I don't see why so many are refusing to try and help resolve the issue. This is not a world wide sponsored hoax targeted on removing our president from power. People keep saying if masks work why do we not just open up the country and have everyone wear them? People will still refuse to wear them and make up bogus health reasons and other arguments why they cant wear a simple mask inside a store for 10 minutes. If we could somehow make this a reality that would be great but anytime there is a stricter mandate all the people complaining about snowflakes happen to turn into the biggest snowflakes. Your second paragraph pretty much sums up your lack of statistical knowlege of exactly what is going on in the United States versus the rest of the world with regard to this very real virus. We are the only country in the civilized world testing perfectly healthy people, not exhibiting any symptoms, and also the only country in the world to test over 50,000,000 or our citizens. Go test 10% of the total population in all of Europe and let me know how those numbers compare to ours. That's the equivalent comparison by the way. US is not doing bad at all compared to others. Heck, take just NY and NJ out of the mix and we are tops in the world.

Not trying to be a smart arese on here but I was talking to a guy the other day and he said no way he would ever wear one, said he felt like he couldn't breathe with it on. I listened to him ramble on about it so I finally asked him, dont you wear one hunting and fishing? He had no response. For the record I hate them, I just like messing with people. I don't wear one fishing. I do wear one hunting...it's always been one of the loose fitting mesh ones. Why, because i don't feel like im suffocating in it.
The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

You're welcome to wear two masks, if you want. Wear one for me and one for you. I'm not wearing one.

I had to hold a bandanna in front of my face for about 10 seconds as I walked through the gate to watch my daughter play softball today at the gulf. After that maybe 10 percent of the crowd wore a mask. Of course it was about 95 degrees and 90 percent humidity so I doubt the wuhan could live outside for more than a few seconds. Why? The mandate specifically excludes outdoor activities

When do I have to wear a mask? You have to wear a mask when you are in public and in close contact with other people. Specifically, the order says to wear a mask when you are within six feet of a person from another household in any of the following places: (a) an indoor space open to the public; (b) a vehicle operated by a transportation service; and (c) an outdoor public space where ten or more people are gathered.regardless of what you believe about the mandate, in general, that right there says you don't have to wear one if you are more than 6' from another person, regardless of being indoors or outdoors.

Well, I'm not going to wear a mask. I stopped in at the grocery store on my way home today. It's one of the major chain stores that just announced mandatory masks. I walked right by the door screener, bare faced and he never said a word. As I shopped I was also people watching. None of the masked people avoided me or the other non-masked people. Nobody gave nasty looks. Nobody said a word. The sheeple/stand alone American ratio in there was about 80/20.
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

We’ve had to wear the damn masks since we reopened back during the first week of May at work. Looks like we’ll be wearing them the rest of the year. 🙄

Local drunk guy here told me that the mask makes it easier to be drunk in public. That actually made sense. You know...I went to the ABC store the other day and they had a sign on the door stating "If you appear to be under the age of 30, please have your ID ready", but they also had a sign up requiring masks. I begrudgingly wore my mask. I also had a baseball cap and sunglasses on and didn't bother to remove either. They never checked my ID or anything. I could have been 15yrs old and they'd have never known the difference. Kids these days could be having a field day with this mask deal. Funny that you mention that. I read a news article the other day, where some teenagers are already having a field day. Their was some teenage girls that dressed like old ladies and bought some beer, lol!
