My wife has found a live edge dining table that she is wanting to buy. It is made of a slab of mesquite wood with I think a mesquite rootball for the base. Besides being too expensive, do any of the aldeer experts know anything good or bad about mesquite used for a table?

Where it grows should make it a slow growing, tight grained, very dense wood. That would make it great for tables and such. Open that big ole wallet up and make the wife happy. I wouldnt think there would be any reason to be scared of it. If its well built, itll last forever. Shell be tired of it in ten years and you can sell it in the classifieds for 1/3 what youre fixin to pay.

It's supposed to be hard as oak and a very stable wood, two qualities one would want in furniture . Prolly make some well built and interesting cabinetry as well. Pull the trigger.
