My 53 year old shoulder hurts, I did 200 pushups yesterday and 50 pullups today.

Ain't it interesting to see how many of us suffer from shoulder problems? What is causing it? A flaw in our design or perhaps our evolution? What about sleep apnea...bet a bunch of us have it to. Is modern medicine extending our lives past where our bodies can support?
Been here long enough to go from "bring 'da pain" to " bring 'da pain meds.

Mine hurt for over 3 years and finally went to Hughston Orthopetic Clinic in Columbus. Had MRI and showed small torn rotator cuff. Tried therapy then rest and after 6 months its better. Not without some pain but tons better.

I can’t do a pushup at the moment. Shoulder collapses Same here. Got the shot 2 weeks ago. Lasted 24 hrs. Having an MRI with contrast done tomorrow at Hughston in Columbus. Already had surgery on both shoulders. Here we go again.

Went to Andrews today. Rotator cuff impingement. Apparently my acronium(bone above shoulder) is supposed to be flat but mine has a hook. It is rubbing things like bursa, tendons, and rotator cuff muscles. Gave me a steroid shot(which hurt like a mother and hurts worse now) and Told me to give it 3 weeks. If no relief or pain goes away for a while but comes back, have to do mri to see if a tear is present
Sure hope this steroid shot wears off soon and gives me some relief or I won’t be sleeping I have the same issue in one of my shoulders. They said I should have surgery about 8 years ago. I live with it.

Cortisone is a steroid. And yes, the shot itself didn’t hurt but shortly after felt like a golf ball in there. Feels like it may be subsiding soon Didn’t know it was a steroid but, yes, the way it felt later is exactly how you described. Did it improve the next day? I hate to break it to you, but no, it hurt for three weeks afterwards until they finally cut on me. Go see Goldstein at Andrews Sports. I saw him for both my shoulder and knee.

Sure hope this steroid shot wears off soon and gives me some relief or I won’t be sleeping I had rotator cuff impingement. Bone spurs. I had them ground off. Both shoulders 3 years apart. Hurt like a mfer. The first one is good. The second one I still have pain and numbness in my arm. Both of mine done too. One they cut me wide open and the other was scoped. The short term recovery on the scoped one was better, but now 15 years later it is acting up again. Oddly it is my left arm which is my weak arm and is not used as much as my right.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

MRI was not what I expected. Apparently I had an arthogram mri. They stuck a needle in the shoulder joint and injected some sort of contrast. Then i laid in the mri machine so it could take pictures
This contrast shows up tears in the labrum and rotator cuff easier or something. But DANG!! That needle in the shoulder was not cool! FYI, if the contrast leaked out of your shoulder it is a torn rotator cuff. The needle in the shoulder joint is not fun, but you already know that.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

MRI. Only way to tell. I had those symptoms and got it scoped. Said it looked like a sea anemone and should look like a que ball. Nice and shiny. Mine was shredded. The ball of my shoulder that is.
Don't blame me for your bad decision-

Did that a couple years ago. The PT was the worst part of all because of scar tissue. I have an MRI tomorrow because I tore my bicep in the same arm I had the rotator cuff repair in. If nothing is torn but the bicep I will not have surgery on it. I hope yours works out not to need surgery.

Ain't it interesting to see how many of us suffer from shoulder problems? What is causing it? A flaw in our design or perhaps our evolution? What about sleep apnea...bet a bunch of us have it to. Is modern medicine extending our lives past where our bodies can support? No Sir, not a flaw. My doctors over the years say improper use or no use. I do over 300 pushups on the perfect pushup device every day. Supposedly many rotator and impingement problems come because we seldom use our arms up above our head so we aren’t doing things in a proper range of motion. I exercise with dumbbells and a sledge hammer overhead, I have a weighted rifle that I hold in shooting position too. There are many stabilizer muscles that never get strengthened either, its why bench press is usually bad for folk because they can go up in weight big muscle wise before their little muscles and tendons strengthen. The docs also told me its even more aggravating for wide shouldered and small waisted side sleepers. If you are impinged from lack of cartilage and such you might as well let them trim a little bone back because most folk don’t have the discipline to fix it which is a religious use of rubber bands, and bending slightly over with a 5 lb dumbell in the hand while slowly moving it in a circle with the other hand which stretches the impinging areas apart. Ankle weights work better so you don’t have to focus on holding the dumbell lightly while the arm swings in circles.

I tore my rotator cuff trying to get a pissed off cows head out of a gate. She had me pinned against the side of a catch pen. I tore my bicep reaching to latch the gate on the trailer after loading cows I think it's old age catching up with me.
