You are allowed to misuse a marine radio for emergency purposes ONLY. Please don’t use them for regular comms unless you are on a boat or an industry related business. The FCC monitors for this even inland. They WILL find you. Please don’t do this. You might get away with it for a while, but one day you’ll get a visit. Defending your business is an emergency, also, I've used them for the last 10 years and they haven't found me.
