the absurd practice of shooting hens in that state. If you listen to the turkey biologists, shooting mature gobblers is pretty absurd. Not saying I agree, but that's what they say. It throws the whole pecking order into chaos. They sort that out pretty quickly. Shoot a hen lose a nest every season she is fertile.
