I heard an interview with a mainstream reporter who kept running across the same protestors in different cities and they told him that they were part of a network that was put on busses, given baseball bats and gas masks and handed a few hundred dollars and told to start it. 30-40 of them start it and pretty soon the local malcontents join in.

It's why these always play out the same way, and take 3-4 days to get rolling.
