IF Biden is elected and has a medical condition that renders him unable to fulfill the duties of the President the VP will take over and the Speaker of the House assumes the VP position.....thats how Gerald Ford became President even though he was never elected President or VP....... Not correct. Nixon appointed Ford as his Vice President when Agnew quit. Article II, section 1, clause 6 of the constitution provides that in the event of a vacancy in the office of Vice President, the president appoints a new Vice President who is then confirmed by a majority vote of both houses of Congress. You are correct, Sir. Ford was not Speaker of the House , Repubs were in the minority when Nixon was Prez, I do think Ford was minority leader. When Ford became Pres. then he got to pick his VP. His top 3 to pick from where Rockefeller (who he picked), Donald Rumsfeld, or George Bush. Now we can talk about career politicians.
