Yeah it's been tough sledding lately. Places that had gobbling birds all over have been completely silent the last few days. I walked quite a ways yesterday morning and never heard a single gobble, but did get back to the truck and watch one fly off 20 yards behind it so theres that. Maybe itll turn tomorrow morning.

Can’t go until Thursday. Gonna try to hunt Thursday - Sunday if work allows.

I finally connected with the old devil bird I'd been chasing on the nf. Joker had tied me in knots a few times. Pretty decent bird, I'll get some pics up in a few.

Congrats. After today I will be off work until next Tuesday. Forecast looks good through the weekend, so hopefully I can connect with a few to put on the board. Called a bird in for Olemossy's son last Sunday morning and he got the shot. My turn now.

Well called up a nice double beard for my son this morning. I told him this weekend he is backup it’s my time to shoot one.

Got on the board this morning. This bird had everything shut down gobbling. Thought he would be a monster. Walked up to look at him and........may win the lowest scoring adult gobbler taken this year. First slick legged turkey I have ever seen. Zero spurs on either leg. Makes me wonder how he hushed the place.

#2 this afternoon. Sat down to a surprise gobble at 12:30. Shot him at 2:00.
Are we supposed to post photos the day of? I haven’t. Clueless about how honestly.

Had one almost dead this morning. Called his hens to 60 yards but they wouldn’t come over the last little knoll and took him up the mountain. Season opened today so I’ve got lots of work to do.

Been completely silent for close to a week where I’m hunting......... I hate deer hunting turkeys, but if I’m forced to I’ll hunker down 😜

It’s sucking big time right now

Still been at it but goodness it has been tough at times. I had a new one this week when what I assume was a bear huffing caused the bird that was fired up on the limb to fly into parts unknown. Maybe tomorrow will be the day it turns. These hens have to start thinning out soon

Silence........is NOT golden in my world right now. I quit deer hunting 5 years ago. I’m hardheaded though and will do what I have to do I guess.

Today was much better. Birds fired up everywhere. Had one fired up in front with hens and another came running up right behind me. Had to spin quick and shot him at 10 yards by 7. A dang good bird too.
