You’re more exposed Hoggin. I don’t think so. If so, you’re part of the problem if you’re just dealing with the general public and you’re not suiting up to walk on a ICU unit with 20+ positive cases of Covid 19. Cry me a river. I guess I’m part of the problem but I’m keeping the shucks you need to work with coming everyday and ain’t crying about how educated and important and SCARED I am Just getting the job done and calling bulldoodoo when I see it. 20 Covid cases. In one hospital, shouldn’t it be thousands with no survivors. Hell at least give me hundreds. 20’outta how many patients in that hospital How many of those 20 will die, how many outta the rest of the patients. How many will die from something else that ain’t at the hospital yet. I’ve got several long time friends who are very respected MD’s falling bs they just can’t afford to do it publicly

Does he work in a hospital? Not all MD’s agree because some are losing money too. I guarantee to you that if plans and precautions had not been put in place he would have said more should have been done. Even quarterbacks can be armchair QB’s when their team isn’t playing on TV.

SMH Why would anyone be disappointed with that. I stayed away from people when the flu is bad. “Social distance” has no choice but to work. But when you keep being told it’s going to get worse then people eventually get sick of it. I’ve done everything that was asked of me, mostly because I guess I’m socially distant anyway. Work woods and church are the only places I go

The OP's post might be true in Alabama but I don't think the people in NYC would agree.

You’re right, feel better? When I go to work tomorrow I’ll tell them your friends said it’s all bulllllldooodooo. Take the masks and gowns off, take the patients off the vents. I said nothing of your education. I just said you’re not a medical professional. BTW, if you get sick, don’t worry. Its no worse than the flu. But, you knew that. Cause your friends said so.

Two MD’s I respect a lot work at one of the largest and supposedly the busiest in Alabama have privately called it overrated bs If you think quarantine has saved anyone, take the safety suit off tomorrow and drive around a little. Nobody is truly in quarantine, they just ain’t working. Morning and evening traffic is down true enough but midday traffic damn sure ain’t. I watched 100 or so play and spectate a soccer game today 50 yards from a service call I was on in Birmingham. I saw people milling around in TUSCALOOSA acting like they were practicing “social distancing” with fist bumps. Quarantine working my ass. Lowe’s is full of people, Walmart full of people, piggly wiggly the same Home Depot, target, dollar general, tractor supply, a restaurant that I picked up dinner in tonight to go had more people waiting inside for takeout than I’ve ever seen eating in, the one beside it just as full waiting for takeout. Quarantine my ass

Booger. Please try to keep up. Stop ventilating people. Oxygen only, maxed out if you have to. I know - whole new set of issues. The pressure in vents even on the lowest pressure setting with the highest advisable o2 setting is causing more damage than it's helping. Use cpaps with o2 for a low pressure alternative.

My day job is probably more exposed in a real situation than anyone in the medical field. Everyone I deal with is someone who was on the other side of the country 3 days ago So while the world is pampering the doomsday empire the real world moves on. Yes I hate it for those who’s lost loved ones but think of all the lives save from random traffic accidents while we live out this fairytale
You’re so full of chit. You are not more exposed than Hospital staff right now, I guarantee it. If you seriously believe that you are an idiot. I appreciate what you do but don’t act like you have it worse off than other people. Yeah you might deal with people from across the country or what ever but you are not right up next to them starting IVs, picking them up out of bed, bathing them, giving meds, etc. and the PPE shortage is very real.

I know I’m right. I work in it and around it. I know nothing about fixing automobiles, planes, trains, or haybalers, so I don’t try to steer people in the wrong direction when they have a problem with them. Some non-medical would do well to listen less to the media and more to the medical community. BTW, telling your friend he’s about to step barefooted on a rattlesnake is not spreading panic, it’s called caring about your friend. Dr Booger I'm just curious how many people you have seen die from covid -19? My mother works at a hospital in North Alabama. They are not over run, or had anyone die from the covid-19. I don't know anyone that has it. (I had it back in January but don't have the paperwork to prove it) I don't know anyone that knows anyone that has it. But when I watch the news or read online I see pictures of people lined up to get inside a hospital and people walking around in hazmat suits but that's not what I see in the real world. When I drive by the hospital or Dr's office I see half empty parking lots, I see healthy people trying to get to work, or looking uncomfortable at the grocery store because of all the hoops we now have to jump through to deal with our everyday lives and in our minds we are all thinking it's bull sh!t but nobody says anything we just go along with it.

Well powpow I can tell you I’ve seen plenty of patients with it and have seen a few die from complications of it. Yes I said complications from it. Have you ever had a plastic bag put over your head? Maybe you should try it because that’s the way one patient described it. Doctors offices are empty because the are not seeing patients, same with dentist and the hospital parking lots are almost empty because there is a NO VISITOR POLICY.

I’m not seeing any of this either. Every day when I come in contact with people I’ll ask if everyone in their family is ok and the answer is always yes. And then I ask if they know anyone that has contacted it. The answer so far has been no. Now when I ask any questions regarding the economy everyone is seeing the destruction of it. I’m not saying it isn’t real just we’ve overblown it with the shutdowns. How long does everyone think we can go on like this. If given the choice of working and supporting your family or eventual starvation from a depression what would be your choice. And I’m one of the fortunate ones that is working. I’ve got a brother in-law that is a co manager at Hobby Lobby that was thrown to the wolves. They shut down and told them to apply for unemployment. Didn’t give them their vacation pay or PTO.

Take this or leave it. Out side of the sports forum(because stirring crap in it is easy), I have never done or said anything that is not truthful. I work at Alabama’s largest hospital. On an ICU floor. My floor has been designated Covid-19 free so that we can have a safe place for the non covid ICU patients. Have I seen Covid 19 patients die? No. Have I spoken to pulmonologist who have seen many die? Yes. I have spoken to other nurses on the Covid 19 floors who have seen them die a agonizing death. Like I said before, don’t look at the published numbers. They are wrong. There are a lot of unanswered questions about who this virus seems to attack and kill. I’m not talking about the old people and people with multiple comorbidities. I’m talking about 20, 30, and 40 year olds with no underlying health problems that end up getting deathly sick. Geno, thanks for educating us on how to care for Covid patients on vents. Your treatment recommendations are not a “one size fits all” treatment plan. Our doc’s have done well. But thanks. Hoggin and Big T, I don’t know you and you don’t know me. I have never said the sky is falling. I have pushed safety measures to insure public safety. I don’t pretend to know it all. However, I have a firm grasp of how virus’s spread. I’ve personally had to learn and practice these extreme ways of social distancing to keep my son alive for the last 19 years. He’s still alive because of my “sky is falling” way of doing things. Driving around will not expose you to Covid 19. Coming in contact with someone who has Covid 19 or touching a surface they’ve coughed in then touching your face will. We all know that this is not a communist country, so we knew social distancing was not going to happen at 100% compliance. But, 50% compliance still slows the RATE of infection. Read this next part slowly, the goal was to s l o w the r a t e of infection so that our hospitals were not over run with Covid 19 patients. That’s all. Not prevent people from getting it, because you’re not going to stop people from getting infected. I don’t know anything about farming logistics, trucking logistics, or even business logistics. I do know a thing or two about hospital logistics. I have first hand knowledge of trying to juggle multiple patients throughout a hospital just to make one bed for one ICU patient. It ain’t easy. Sick people are not cattle. Our over all goal with all of this sacrifice was simply to not overwhelm our health care systems. Like in New Orleans, NYC, Albany Ga, Seattle, Michigan, and now probably Miami. If me trying to educate about how virus’s spread and defending social distancing doesn’t sit well with you, then that’s just something we’ll have to disagree about. Tar and feather, write me off . I could care less, no one on this site signs my checks or puts food in my mouth. No “cry me a river” here Hoggin. I’ve walked my family through much tougher times than this and we’re doing just fine, without your help.
