So in the midst of all this craziness and economic uncertainty I've found myself trying to think positively and on the backside of the 'rona.

I've been putting together a need/want list in a custom-built house/property.
What are things that are actually realistic given a realistic income that you would want in a home, shop and property?

Custom built cabinets.

In the shop a 220 outlet also in the shop a half bathroom. "Mud room" laundry area with storage, folding area, sink, and if cost allows a toilet. In at least one bathroom, maybe master suite, a walk-in or roll-in shower with seat.

Build more shop space than you think you'll ever need because it fills up quick....also build a game/fish cleaning area with lights, running water, and a large cutting area.

All hard floors. I have nothing but tile and hardwood. If I had it to do again, I'd go with all tile. Solid wood custom cabinets. Mine are maple. Granite counter tops. Not solid surface. Mine are solid surface. Granite has many advantages. Twice as much closet space as you think you'll ever need.

These are perfect, keep them coming.

A storm shelter.

Wish I had an above ground safe room.

Tornados scare the hell out of me, I much "prefer" earthquakes.
A smallish hardened concrete room with some fold-down cots for sleeping overnight and put the gun safe inside the safe room.

Indoor archery range. Bar. Ice cube maker

Gas stove, wood burning fireplace, no carpet, large back deck.

I ran all the security and Ethernet cables thought the house i kinda regret not putting in a central vacuum system but was afraid lil one would stop it up...spray foam and heated bathroom floor is nice

Build on no less than five acres.

We did that to...just make sure u get a good one ours is leaking after 2 yrs gotta get another one

Add extra lighting and outlets. There never seems to be enough.

I’ve had more compliments on my outside cabinets than anything else in my whole house. In my garage on two walls, from floor to ceiling is 3’ deep cabinets of different sizes. Cheap plywood doors, but I keep everything out there out of sight. Laundry room with a big mop sink and room to keep an ironing board set up and a freezer too.

Check out the plastic utility sinks with fixtures. You can add a small wall mounted hot water heater. Great for mud room, etc. and affordable.
