May be too early. But by getting the ball rolling the schools and students can get back to some form of learning and get the school year finished. If they continue to wait to restart school the kids may be going until June or July before finishing. Many seniors need to move on in their lives either with college or jobs. They need to finish this year so they can move on, whether they waited or did it online this years education will be not be the same as a normal year.

What do y’all think the private schools will do. Any compensation or credits towards next year. Pretty rough to pay those prices to have to homeschool!!

Don't blame me for your bad decision-

I feel they jumped the shark with this decision.

Very tough for working parents with younger kids.

I was actually talking to someone who has two kids that go to private schools. She said their school will follow everyone else in this. I didn’t even think about the whole tuition thing.

My gf teaches middle school here in SC. She’s doing all she can but a lot of the kids just simply aren’t even logging in to do the work. The one’s with parents who care are holding them accountable but there are a number who aren’t. They haven’t cancelled the year yet here so maybe some common sense will prevail and they will let them finish it out in the classroom here. Hate it for all the working parents in AL that have to deal with this bull crap.

Most private schools have it in the contract that you still pay even if the student isn't there. School hasn't ever been cancelled like this though but I would bet most won't give credit.

I just axed my wife. She said with 2 weeks of testing coming up, in reality they would miss about 4 weeks of classroom time. She said she had gone over about 90% of her yearly instructional information already.

That is normal teaching strategy...Teach them the important stuff first while they are thinking about it and before they get comfortable and start slacking. So they really aint missing much except their friends.

I work so my wife can stay home with the kids. Everyone's excited at my house, plus I don't have to take them to that crap classroom taught by a libtard anymore.

Looks like a long summer for us.

That’s what I’m afraid of. I know everyone is gonna feel the burn but with those prices it’s hard to justify remote schooling. Lots of things in the cost that aren’t even being administered. PE, art, Spanish, music, plus the sports programming. Like I said ...... I get it but it’s gonna sting to write that check.

It is true that by state testing, each standard needs to have already been taught. That doesnt mean there is no teaching and learning taking place after testing though. But, as for my school, its CTE. I'm trying to figure out how my teachers are going to teach welding, robotics, industrial maintenance, cosmetology, ect..ect... online. We are hands on.

Most of the teachers I work with completed all their standards two weeks ago-the week we stopped going to school. We were scheduled out this week for spring break. We were to come back and take our state diagnostic assessments the third week of April. These assessments are the ones that schools are held accountable for with state accountability. So basically we aren't missing anything except the testing. Once we test, it's all over with anyway. We just babysit until the last day.

I spent three weeks last year working for DRC (Diagnostic Research Corporation) creating the state assessment for third and fourth grade with 12 other Alabama teachers. I had to sign sworn confidentiality statements that state I won't reveal what our state test is and isn't. Our students were ready to test and I hate we aren't testing. The test was the best I have ever seen because it actually tests students on what they are covering in their state standards. The common core crap has been thrown away and a user friendly test was created for us, by us.
