Great opening morning. I was 2 times lucky. It was a quiet morning, didn’t hear a peep from 1 hr before legal shooting time until 8:30 when I gave up on the field I was set up on. I thought the rain overnight might bring them in the open to dry off. Took a stroll from the bottoms up on top of the ridges . A few hundred yards and I came to a point where I could call down into two hollows. A few yelps and he sounded off pretty nearby. A second one answered a couple hundred yards further. I ran up the trail 30 yards or so I grabbed a tree . He hobbled once more while I was sitting down but didn’t sound closer . I sat quite for about 10 minutes and was starting to wonder if I needed to make a move. A few more minutes and I saw a movement at my seven o’clock. I saw the blue head slipping by right where I called from. He stepped behind a tree, I swung in place and dropped him at 40yds when he stepped out. 5 seconds later and he would have slipped by. My second stroke of luck was when my pattern clipped a hickory sapling at 20 yds. My shot wad was 6ft further towards the bird. There was enough of the Apex left to do the job. I actually had to knock him in the head to finish him off. Must of had a broke back. Anyone know what I did wrong for my pictures to not show up?
