I had a buddy shoot one in the femoral artery as well. That’s the most blood I’ve ever seen from a deer.


I once took a shot on a lone doe in a river cane thicket, only to have two does run 50 yards and drop. The second (invisible) doe had no sign of an entry or exit wound. When I opened her up, the damage was done to the femoral artery by a piece of copper bullet jacket smaller than my little fingernail.
